Castle Rock voters in Districts 3 and 6 likely will see
boundaries redrawn for the April election, said Sally Misare, town
clerk.
The town’s election commission met last week to discuss the
redistricting based on voter numbers provided by the Douglas County
clerk and recorder, Misare said.
“The number of registered electors in the smallest district
cannot be less that 85 percent of the number of registered voters
in the largest district,” Misare said.
District 3 has the most registered voters, 3,274, and District 6
has the fewest, 2,263. Castle Rock has 17,997 registered voters,
said Douglas County Deputy Clerk and Recorder Judy
Crenshaw.
Herb Teets represents District 3, which includes Plum Creek and
portions of Red Hawk. Ray Waterman represents District 6, which
includes Glovers, part of Baldwin Park and a portion of Craig and
Gould.
Teets’ term expires in April, and Waterman’s expires in April
2004.
“Redistricting has to be done by Feb. 1, but can’t be started
until 100 days before April 1,” Misare said.
