John Barnes
A funeral service was Thursday in Centennial for John Franklin
Barnes of Littleton, who died Nov. 4 at Cherry Creek Nursing Center
in Aurora. He was 78.
Interment was at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver.
Born May 26, 1924, in Shiawassee County, Mich., he was the son
of Millard H. and Fannie B. (Kanouse) Barnes.
While Mr. Barnes was stationed in Little Rock, Ark., he met
Nathalie S. Sharp. The couple married there Aug. 23,
1947.
The couple moved to Douglas County after they retired in
1990.
Mr. Barnes was preceded in death by his wife and a daughter,
Jan. M. Harvey. He is survived by daughter Kay Nelson, of Castle
Rock; son-in-law Ula Nelson of Englewood; and grandsons Aaron
Nelson and his wife, Christine, of Columbia, Md., and Jonathan of
Englewood.
