Foreclosures in Douglas County this year are nearly double what
they were at this time last year.
There were 215 foreclosures filed through June this year, said
the public trustee’s office in Douglas County. Last year there were
113 foreclosures filed the first six months. In 2000 there were 112
filed by the end of June.
The foreclosures are on properties with a wide range of prices.
A bulk of the foreclosures are split between the county’s least
expensive housing stock in the $200,000 range and more expensive
properties worth more than half a million.
There are more than 90,000 properties assessed for property tax
in Douglas County.
