A Castle Rock Police officer nabbed a possible serial killer
when he stopped a vehicle for driving without its headlights on
Dec. 26, said Castle Rock Police Chief Tony Lane.

When the officer checked the registration on the vehicle, it
came up as stolen. The officer took the driver into custody, and
during the interview, George Doyle, 45, confessed to three murders
in three states, Lane said.

Doyle is listed as having no address and being unemployed, said
Sgt. Tim Moore, public information officer with the Douglas County
Sheriff’s Office.

Castle Rock police have contacted police in the three
states.

“We are waiting to hear back from those agencies,” Lane said,
“but what the suspect has told us has a ring of truth about
it.”

The murders allegedly occurred in 1971 Missouri, 1995 in New
Mexico and in 1996 Texas.

Doyle, a transient, was charged with aggravated motor vehicle
theft, driving with a revoked license and driving under the
influence of alcohol. He was booked into the Douglas County Jail in
lieu of a $250,000 bond, Lane said.

“We are continuing the investigation,” Lane said.

Doyle does have a criminal history in Colorado, Moore
said.
