Library patrons can find out how Bulgaria is coping with the
collapse of communism at “An Evening in Bulgaria,” at 7 p.m.,
Tuesday, at the Lone Tree Library, 8827 Lone Tree
Parkway.
The Friends of the Lone Tree Library donated money to support
public access to information through Bulgaria libraries. The
Douglas Public Library District is a sister library district to
Bulgarian libraries.
The program will feature Nancy Bold, a state librarian, and
Stoyan Ganchev, former resident of Bulgaria.
Bold will present pictures of documents of antiquity that
Bulgarians are trying to preserve. Additionally, she will have
handmade Bulgarian jewelry (including amber) for sale.
Proceeds from the sale will support the library’s cultural
exchange efforts.
Ganchev, now a Lone Tree resident, will present pictures and
information on Bulgaria culture and history.
Bulgarian food will be available, including stuffed grape
leaves, spinach pie and moussaka. These traditional dishes are
similar to the food of bordering countries Greece and
Turkey.
